I Finally met Preston Bailey

I have finally had the chance to meet one of the people who inspire me to keep designing fabulous events. This person of course was Preston Bailey and boy was this a treat. Preston Bailey came to the Virginia Hilton as a guest for the Uniquely Yours Bridal Show. At this cocktail event he met with the guest and gave a 1 1/2 speech that consisted of a presentation and Q&A. I was able to speak with him before his speech and just chat a bit. During his speech he was so down to earth and so real. He talked about the ins and outs of the business and how he was human and makes mistakes just like anybody else.

The one thing that I will always remember is that he said" If you don't love what you do then maybe you shouldn't be doing it". At that point it ignited a fire in me and he hit it on point. I knew I was in the right business because I Love what I do. This meeting was truly special to be and it will forever be apart of me. I would like to thank a really good friend and my associate Carla Walker from Touche Wedding and Event planning for pushing me to show up. I would not have missed it for the world. Here is a picture of us after he signed his latest book Preston Bailey Flowers.

Black Wedding Dress Trend

Not sure if I would wear one because black to me is kinda gloomy but I have found that some of these dresses are fabulous. I think it takes a certain type of personality to pull it off. One that is confident and not afraid to express themselves. That's why it's great to have some many color options to match different styles and personalities.

If you are looking for an inexpensive way to decorate table for a holiday party you can create this really cute Christmas Ornament Centerpieces. I am always on the hunt for new ways to spruce up a table and thought these would be really cute to share.

It's so simple to create: Purchase your favorite Christmas ornaments from your local craft store or Walmart. Then purchase a round disk that could either be plastic or glass. Glue your centerpiece on the disk and remove the spring. Here is where you get creative to make it really stand out. Buy yourself some really nice flowers that are not too top heavy and insert them. Maybe try doing different ornaments that are in many color to create a more intriguing table display. Group them together or spread them out however you like. This project is not only easy but is too cute.

Destination Wedding in the Bahamas

This summer I had the opportunity to go to the beautiful island of the Bahamas. The weather was perfect both day and night. Yes, a little on the hot side, but the breeze made it just right. Luckily the resort I stayed at had it's own private beach, 4 pools, and one of them was an infinity pool! But, enough of the resort.

On the first day that i was there I saw people setting up for a destination wedding. The decor was just so beautiful! A couple hours later people started coming, and everyone was dressed so well. Although I didn't attend, i did get to witness a destination wedding on the lawn of the resort. It truly looked like a scene out of one of those romance movies.

The breeze was cooling, and the weather was perfect. The bride was stunning, and the groom looked so anxious waiting for her to go down the isle. Keep in mind we were just looking from afar, away from the actual wedding. But, even from the distance I could see the groom's anticipation, and excitement to see his bride. Then it happened, the music played, and the bride came. Everyone was in awe with how beautiful she was. Well, needless to say the ceremony was beautiful, especially with the sun slowly setting in the background.

I would definitely recommend for everyone to visit the Bahamas at least once in their life. It really is a beautiful place to enjoy a vacation. These pictures don't do it enough justice.

We have such exciting news!!! We were just asked to do an event for Derserving Families for about 20 little girls and their parents. This event will be called "Dreams do Come True" I can not begin to tell you how excited we are do be doing a Princess Tea Party themed event. So, I decided to do this blog with Princess Tea Party Inspirations if you would like to throw one yourself.

What a fabulous idea in wrapping the cake stand in a tutu. This is just too cute and really makes this table stand out.

These cookies are so yummy looking but perfect for a Tea Party theme.

Pets in the Wedding Party

It is amazing to see that more and more couples are saying their vows with their best friends which are their pets. More couples are having their pets in their weddings as Best Men, Ring Bearers and also Brides Maids. I could see how important it is to pet owners to have their pets right by their sides because they have been there for them through thick and thin.I think the most fun part of it all is creating an outfit just for your pet.It's so adorable when the couple dresses up the dogs or cats in cute little wedding party outfits to match everyone else.

There are some tips to assure that your pet will be a success at your wedding:

1. Make sure that you go through training with your pet. If you practice with them ahead of time it will be less scary for them to walk down the aisle with all the guest watching. Working with an Obedience Trainer can be very beneficial.

2. If you are going to be taking photos, make sure that your photographer is comfortable with you pet and vice versa. When taking photographs the flash may startle your pet and have him to go into frenzy. Making a few appointments with the photographer and even taking pictures of your pet may ease their nerves.

3. If possible have a small treat bag on hand if your pet responds to be awarded for good behavior. This can kinda keep him focused and maybe the Best Man or the Brides Maid could have these goodies available.

Paper Flowers- Get Creative

I remember back in grade school we use to make paper flowers all the time. I never thought that paper flowers would be the new craze for decor for any type of paper. They are so easy to make!

All you need is:
Scissors
8-10 sheets of tissue paper from any craft or dollar store
piece of twin,floral wire or a stapler.

Easy Step-by-Step Directions:
1. Layer 8-10 sheets of 20x20" tissue paper on top
of one another. For a greater impact, you can
mix two (or more) colors together.
2. Fold the tissue paper in 1-11⁄2 sections, back and
forth in an accordion/fan fold.
3. Once folded, secure the tissue by twisting floral
wire around the middle.
4. For prettier “petals”, trim each end of the tissue
into rounded or pointed corners. For a more dahlia looking
style of flower, cut a small slit (about 1" deep)
in the middle of the rounded edges.
5. Now you are ready to open your flower. Carefully (so
you don’t tear the tissue) separate the tissue layers
on the left and right side towards the center.
6. Once you have separated all the tissue layers, fluff
and shape your flower to your desired look.
7. The finished flowers can be hung from the ceiling
or light fixtures using fishing wire, or attach them to
dowel rods for stems and arrange in a vase. You can
also attach the flowers to chairs, railing, trees, and
bushes using the attached floral wire.

Weeks before your wedding day choose a hairdresser that will make your do at the wedding. Find a hairdresser that is recommended by someone you know and trust; someone that they had a good experience with.

1. Establish a good rapport with the hairdresser. You should be comfortable in discussing with him or her on the style and look you want. Some hairdressers insist on some do that they dreamed would be made for them. Be firm in telling him or her what you want and don’t want.

Don't forget that if you have some type of veil or headpiece that you bring that with you also to make sure of the proper fit and to see if it will go well with the hair style that you selected.

Nneka & Christopher Meek's Nigerian Wedding

I have to truly say that this wedding is one to go down into my book of hard work pays off. I had such a pleasure designing and managing this beautiful Nigerian Wedding. Nneka who was the bride was such a pleasure to work with. She came to me with her vision and that is what we set out to do. Her husband Chris was also very involved in the wedding planning even though his job did not permit him to attend our meeting because he was located oversees.

The vision for this wedding was almost like "Coming to America". We had a live band during the cocktail and reception.She also wanted a photo booth to take picture of her guest for her keep sake album. We had an African Dance Troop come and perform two outstanding dance performances. There was also a live video crew to film the wedding from beginning to end. Not to mention live poets at her ceremony along with a live singer. This event was full of willing vendors who saw our vision and made it all happen.

We wanted to share a video clip and some photos from this one of kind wedding.

Hollywood Themed Inspired Prom

We have had the pleasure of doing some proms this year. One of the proms that we really enjoyed was a Hollywood Themed Inspired Prom. When we met with the students and found out the theme we were so excited to begin the design process. Their colors were very simple which consisted of black,white and red.A thought came to mind of old Hollywood because they used the feather boa's and that was so chic in those times. Since we specialize in Ostrich Feather Centerpieces and Mini Towers, I said it would be really cool to incorporate feathers into the school's theme.

We decided to add ostrich feather centerpieces as their table decor, ostrich feather mini towers for the main entrance,red carpet and red ropes for a fabulous entrance.We can't forget a grammy award statue to make it feel like a true hollywood event. Lighting was used to really pull it all together to give the room balance. All of these elements gave the prom the look and feel the students were looking for and it turned out to be a hit. We Love Spandex Chair Covers

When we first started out with the rental part of our business we focused on polyester chair covers. They were definitely renting like crazy but just having to get them pressed to keep the wrinkles out was such a pain in the neck. So, I did my research and decided to offer a much better and classier product which was the spandex chair covers. They are sleek and elegant looking. Not to mention that the care for them is easy and most of all NO WRINKLES. Where have they been all my life? I ask myself this time and time again.

We are not against poly chair covers if you would like to rent them from us, we really just prefer the spandex to give our customers more flexibility when they have to do their own set up. You can use a our spandex band to go around the top of the chair or you can keep it more elegant with a satin or organza sash. My First Thailand Food Experience

I had the opportunity to catch up with my best friend of over 20 years this past weekend.My best friend Nisa just happens to be half Thai and I told her that I was ready to experience Thai Food finally. She took me to this little family style Thai Restaurant in Bloomfield NJ.I knew I was mentally ready to try something new and exciting. This was the perfect weekend to catch up with a really great friend and share great conversation over a lovely meal that she picked out for me.

My first course was Mussels that was in a lemon grass broth. I have never had mussels before and don't think I will be trying that again. But no worries my best fried told me that if I didn't want to eat them that she would eat the rest.

I was able to eat an alternative which was spring rolls and it was so yummy. Sorry but I forgot to take a pic of that.

My second course meal was a Pad Tai which was delicious. It has shrimp which is my favorite with bean sprouts,tofu,carrots,noodles,eggs and some other ingredients. Let's just say we finished that bowl.

Last but not least the last course was one of my favorites which was Mango with Coconut Sticky Rice.Mango is one of my favorite fruits and of course that was the first thing to go. Not sure where the sticky rice comes in but when you eat the two together it is a really nice combination.

To top this meal off I was introduced to a Thai Tea. This tea was different because it had milk in it. I was shocked when it came out but when I actually convinced myself to taste it I was quite surprised that it was not that bad. I still like the original ice tea with lemon and sugar but it was cool to do something different for a change.

My overall experience was great and I am so lucky that I have friends that are of all nationalities and that I am able to experience all of these wonderful foods from around the world.

When planning an event people usually only give party favors at children’s birthday parties or weddings. Why is that? Who says giving your guest a small token of appreciation is for kids? As the host or hostess of an event, you should always let your guest know that you appreciate them attending your event but also leave them with good feelings. What better way to do that then personalized party favors? A personalized party favor could be a t-shirt with something symbolic to your event, something that will make the guest remember the good time they had.

Another good party favor could be a decorated picture frame or mug. "IDoBrunch" 2011 with Lynette Richardson-Hall

I have had the pleasure of attending the "IDOBrunch"2011 Soiree this year in Maryland. This event was produced by Lynette Richardson-Hall of "Who's Wedding is it Anyways" and also know as the "Wedding Diva".

I was not sure what to expect when registering for this event. I just knew that I needed to be there from all the great reviews from last year. So, I bought my ticket and headed out to this fabulous event. Of course all great events have a theme and this one caught my eye. It was all about the shoes and the purse. That was right up my alley since I love shoes.When I arrived on the day of the event all I could say was "WOW, this is FAB!". It was beautifully decorated with spring colors and the lights really put that added touch. The food preparation was out of the world not to mention that this was a brunch so we had breakfast and lunch items on the menu. Can you say " Double Dipped Bacon! I know your like what am I talking about but this bacon was the best thing I ever had. I guess you would have had to been there. It was doubled dipped in maple syrup and black pepper. The prize giveaways were out of this world also. They even gave a trip to Mexico which I wished I had won. They had an Q&A session which a lot of great questions and answers where given. Overall, I thought this event was just flawless and I look forward to seeing what is next for 2012.

Take a peek at some of the high lights of the event. If your a planner or aspiring to be one, well this event should be one on your list of things to do. You will not be sorry you attended.

So, here's the scenario. You wake up after a night of fun out at a friend's party, and you're laying in bed reminiscing about how amazing the previous night was. What do you first think of?The food and drinks? The music? The venue? Or was it just everything in one that you couldn't even pick?

There's so much that goes into planning a party that most people don't know. Of course there's the food, drinks, and music but what about the presentation of everything? The food can't be one side of the room, and the table all the way on the other. The DJ can't be where the tables are and the dance floor be no where close. The atmosphere of the party really gets things started. It sets the mood of how people first react when they come in, and for how the rest of the night goes. The people that come to the party is also a crucial factor of how the event turns out. No one wants boring,quiet, and shy guest but no one also wants loud, obnoxious guest. The ideal guest would be fun, easy going,and pleasant. The music has to fit the feel of the room as well. You wouldn't be playing loud, headbanger songs if you're having a nice retirement cocktail party right? Right. The music you would be playing would be soothing to the ears.

Party planners everywhere, whether it's your first or hundredth party that you're planning know(or at least should know), that even the smallest detail could make the biggest impact on how the party turns out. I hope that this may have helped someone.

Creative Children Birthday Party Ideas

As each year passes in a child’s life, there is always a birthday waiting to be
celebrated and an eager child waiting for a celebration with friends, balloons,cakes and of course presents. Children with birthdays in late spring, summer and early fall have the luxury of endless birthday party possibilities such as barbeque's, theme parks and even pool parties but what about the children with birthdays in late fall, winter and early spring? Starting in November (a couple weeks earlier in some places) outdoor parties are usually out of the question because of loweredtemperatures and drastic season changes.
Here at Pure Dymonds Events we believe that nothing is impossible for our clients so here are some tips for having winter birthday parties for children.

Older children are easier to plan for just because they know exactly what
they want. For ages 8 and up a great winter party idea would be a slumber pool
party. Now you’re probably wondering how that’s possible but a great idea would be to rent room at a hotel and host a slumber party there. Hotels such as Best Western, Hampton Inn and all Marriott’s have indoor pools and lush lobby areas where you could have the dinner and cake but also have a free breakfast in the morning for the children. Incorporate different themes such as a Hawaiian luau or a just a regular beach party equipped with grass skirts and flowered leis.The party could be co ed but when its time for the slumber party the opposite sex children would go home with excellent memories and party favors.

Another idea could be a winter wonderland adventure.If you live in an area
where there is snow you can host a winter wonderland equipped with snowball
fights and snowmen contest. Of course all the children will have to be wrapped
up tightly and accompanies with mittens, hats and warm winter coats but this
would be a fun reenactment of the movie snow day and allow the children to havean interactive party. After about 2 hours outside you could bring all the children inside for a hot cocoa and cake. A nice idea would be to allow the children to make their own snow globes, which is simple and fun and doubles as a party favor.

For toddlers and preschoolers, a great idea would be to host a princess
party or a safari themed party for boys.Having a themed party indoors takes way the dullness from not being able to go outdoors. For little girls a princess part could be equipped with tiaras, wands, princess skirts and party favors for all girls such as jeweled rings and ankle bracelets. The girls could have tea cups and pastries after they get their nails painted. For the boys at the safari themed party they could have different animal costumes and actually go on a hunt for treasures (just Easter eggs filled with candy or prizes). Activities can include the treasure hunt, painting masks (animal) and various wildlife activities.

Having a party indoors can be dull but if you add the right pizazz or theme
and incorporate the child’s wants with practical ideas then the party will be a
success. At any party whether winter or not one key principle is keep your eyes
on the children at all times and make sure they are all safe. Hope these tips
are a success for all parents throwing parties in the colder months of the year.

Cupcakes and Cocktails

Ladies Night is always a lot of fun and giggles when the ladies get together. I decided to host one for a group of ladies that felt like they needed one day out of the month to just relax and be around other diverse women as themselves. I came up with the theme Cupcakes and Cocktails because nothing is better than having a gourmet cupcake and a fun cocktail drink.

I picked the color palette of pink,black and white to be that pop of color for the room. Of course the cupcakes were the center of attention. I decided to get a variety of different ones to match the personalities of all the ladies. We even took the Wii out and had a great time trying to figure out how to play the game.

Night Club Themed Retirement Party

I had the honor of creating a fabulous Retirement Party for a lady that was retiring from the Coast Guard after 20 years. When we spoke it was like an automatic connection since her name also was Tricia. I thought that was just fate to work with someone with the same name. She expressed to me that she wanted her event to be fun with a lot of dancing, intimate seating and a great ambiance of color and lights.

I took her thoughts and created a Miami Chic Night Club theme. It worked out perfect and she was speechless. The color pallette we chose was purple and lime green.We took that information and created fabulous layout, which ended up being a night she would always remember.

Alicia Keys Butterfly Inspired Baby Shower Montage

There is a boom of celebrity babies popping up for the year of 2010. I wanted to to share my vision as a designer on how I would orchestrate a fabulous baby shower for one of my favorite singers Mrs. Alicia Keys.

We all know that she finally announced that she was pregnant by Switz Beats and they are truly happy for the new baby to arrive. But has Mrs. Alicia though about how she would do her baby shower? Well I have and thought it would be nice to share some ideas on what she could do if she was expecting a girl. By looking at some of her pictures,I have an idea by her size that maybe her baby is due in December but of course that is just my opinion.

I decide to pick a butterfly themed baby shower. Alicia's first song that she wrote was titled "Buttefrlyz" and I wanted to bring in elements of all of her favorite things that she would share if she had a little girl.

I really love the color purple and found out that Alicia Keys favorite color is purple so of course that would be the ideal color to choose. I would probably add in silver with touches of pink to give it more of a chic look. Her favorite kind of cake is vanilla ice cream with chocolate fudge so I would want to create maybe a layered ice cream cake that had her favorite color for icing with some butterflies touches. Now seeing as though she is pregnant I would offer her guest different shots of milk in shot glass for a more elegant yet classic feel. Alicia is unable to drink whole milk so of course I would bring out her favorite which would be almond milk and offer a variety of whole,skim,chocolate,strawberry and of course almond milk to her guest with some butterfly cookies stirring sticks.

I would layer the tables with different shades of purple to bring out depth and it soften it a bit.To keep the butterfly theme going I found this really cute butterfly cage to be the centerpiece which would hold live butterflies. Of course many of you may say butterflies are more for spring or summer themed events but who made that rule? You should not have to be limited to do what you like during certain times of the year. Her guest favors would be either little sterling silver butterfly jewelry boxes or perfume bottles with the crystal bottoms.

Keeping Motivated in the Event Planning World

I wanted to take this time to talk about what I go through as a designer in the event planning industry. I wasn't quite sure if I should even discuss my feelings in a blog, however that is what your blog is for.To talk about what you are going through, what you feel, your trials and tribulations and your accomplishments. So I decided to dedicate this post on how I keep from getting De-Motivated in this industry.

It's summer time now and you would think that everyone that is a planner is flourishing. But to the contrary some of us are either at a standstill or just getting by however we can. Yes it is true that many brides get married in the spring and summer but I also think that is depends on where you are located whether or not you will be busy. We all know what they say "It's about who you know" and who I am referring to is the Hotel Catering Sales Mangers. If your not on the preferred vendors list you pretty much will not hear from them because they already have their favorites. So you have to work really hard and network with them to get your name out there and to show them you can be a great representation of what they consider a top knotch planner. Now you ask yourself, " Is that fair?" And we all know the answer to that question. No! but it's what it is.

I figured out that it is all about re-inventing yourself and the products that you offer to your clients. If I take a look at what I offer, I am not only a designer but I also have a rental company. I made it like that to be able to offer a one stop shop to my clients.It is such a pain when you have a bride that wants chair covers and sashes and you are the one designing the wedding and she has to go to several other vendors to get what she needs.Just being able to provide unique services that will benefit the clients is a plus.It's all about how you present the product to them to help make the process easier.

Working with the local vendors in a big thing. You have got to create a great working relationship with the local photographers,rental companies and bakers. These people are key in your network, because there is always an opportunity to refer clients to one another. But the problem is so many of us think we can do it all by ourselves and that is not the case. I find that when you create a bond with the local vendor it helps to get your name out there and also creates a great working relationship because they are normally the first names to roll of the tongue when someone asks do you have someone. However, just by having these great connections are no more good to you or me if we don't keep in contact with each other. It's like you fade into the sunset and you both kinda forget about each other. Then your all upset when your not getting the referrals because the bond has been broken.We as planners need to work harder on preserving all the great connections that we have made through out our careers.

Staying motivated is hard if you don't have the will power to want to succeed. It is so easy to just give up and say that your business is not doing well so therefore your quiting or taking time off. But I refuse to give up because I am a go-getter. I love a challenge and when I see that things might be slow, I focus on other things that I can make better in my business. Planners seem to forget that just because you have a wedding every weekend or a party that other things need attention as far as networking, education in the field, getting feedback from your previous clients on how to better what you do. There is just so much that can be done but because we focus on the dollars we of course forget about the other areas and would rather just throw in the towel then to find a solution on how to get back on top of the game.

My question to you is "Are you a go-getter or just a wannna be?" And when things get bad are you a quitter or fighter?

When you see your motivation decreasing do to lack work, or customers not needing what you have to offer at this time because of their financial situation,what will you do to survive in this industry?

Centerpiece Design for Dress for Success Suit & Salad Luncheon

It was such a pleasure to be asked to be apart of a special event such as Dress for Success. I was contacted by Blair Presley to see if I would like to do the design for their centerpieces for the luncheon. Of course I said yes because it was for a good cause and I believe in giving back. After speaking with the Director Mrs. Deborah Dandridge I was able to take her ides and make it come to life with our vision and it turned out beautiful.

We decided to go with centerpieces that were high and try to bring some outside natural elements to the piece. After completing the design to show to the client come to find out Lily's where Mrs. Deborah's favorite and she had no idea that was my main flower of choice.

We decided to offer these services because most people are tired of the same old baby and kids parties. They tend to be quite drab and boring. There really isn't any bright colors or things to look at. Mom's are tired of doing the Chucky Cheese parties and want something fresh and new. Now there is nothing wrong with going to these places but after awhile it becomes really stale.

Been Gone for a Minute but I am Back!!

So, I have been gone for awhile, but I am 100% back and totally revitalized. I had to take some time off for me and get refocused. So that is what I did and now I am back. I have decided to get on a healthy kick and start working out. I have joined the Insanity Workout Movement. I have decided to take this journey to reshape my body,mind and soul. I needed to be a better me to give you a better me. I have been working out with Insanity for 7 weeks strong now and just love it. I am definitely transforming and feeling better. If you have never heard about the Insanity program it is almost like P90x but just a 60 day program instead of a 90 day. I always asked myself why don't people create a signature drink for their wedding? And most of the time I don't get an answer or they tell me they never really thought about it. Well, I thought it would be nice to touch on the topic real quick.

Creating a signature drink for your wedding or event is a fabulous idea that not only will "WOW" the crowd but will also have your guest remember your event because you did something out of the norm. Creating a signature drink doesn't need to be difficult. It can be a alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink. Just even changing the color of a basic punch drink from red to blue and make an impact. You can take your favorite drink and give it a name to really create a buzz at your wedding.

Grand Affairs Bridal Show

We had the opportunity in participating in a wonderful bridal show.This show was comprised of many different types of vendors such as florists,planners,caterers,photographers and more. We decided to do a different approach and create a one stop show for our brides to be. We decided to display or tablescape artistry with lighting and drapery. We then incorporated a really great preferred vendor we use which was the photo booth. We found that by being able to create a one stop shop for your brides makes the decision making quite easy for them. Here are a few pics from the show. ENJOY!

Snowman Cupcake How-To
This snowman wears a fine winter hat: a chocolate-covered mint beret. His plump figure is two marshmallows -- cut a slice off the top one and squish to make it smaller. Dabs of icing hold parts together. His eyes are chocolate sprinkles (poke holes first with a wet toothpick), and his nose is cut from a gummy fish.

Picture This
Chocolate bars adorned with the faces of the bride and groom are sweet in more ways than one. Choose a few favorite photos, then print them using an ink-jet printer or photocopy onto lightweight paper. (Enlarge or reduce images if needed.) With a paper cutter, trim so photos are slightly shorter than candy bars. Remove outer wrappers but not inner foil. Wrap each candy bar with a photo, and secure in back with double-sided tape. Adorn with waxed twine tied in a small bow.

Sweet Treats
While you're baking this season, think about trying this idea. Tie decorated sugar cookies with ribbon to a miniature tree. Cookies can be nibbled on a day or two after hanging, but they'll continue to look good for weeks.

Recently, someone asked me a great question - Why does a wedding need a theme?

Well, the easy answer is that it doesn't, but having one makes it just that more exciting if done properly and tastefully. In fact, the truth is that almost all wedding have a theme.

The theme of a wedding is whatever aspect is used to pull it all together. The most wildly used themes are colors and flowers. For example, my first wedding had a fuchsia theme. We brought in pops of color with the hot pink to create the look the bride was looking for which created a unified feeling. Today, many brides are choosing to go for more unique and personal themes for a number of reasons, and those are generally what you think of when you hear "wedding theme" Themes like Tiffany Blue, Diamonds and Pearls, Princess/Cinderella, and others. Yes, themes can be tacky and just plain outright awful if done too many times.However, a well done theme can make a regular wedding completely unique and unforgettable.

Benefits of planning a themed wedding:

- Coordination: When all aspects of the wedding are planned around one central theme, even if it is just in color, it creates a much more coordinated look that flows from one area to the next nicely and adds to the elegance of the occasion. It also breaks up the monotony in doing just the traditional wedding. It brings another element and feel to the wedding.

- Personality: Weddings today are reflections of the couple, their relationship and their personalities. Many people are choosing themes that play out on those aspects of their own lives in order to add more personals touch. For example, a couple who met on the beach may want to do a Beach Theme to remember that special night on the beach when they got engaged. Another couple, who are basketball fans may want to have a sports themed wedding because of the love of the game and it being the place where they met.

- Preference: Sometimes, brides will pick a theme just simply because they want to. The couple might want to focus on a theme that appealed to them in an article that they read. It is really all up to what the couple personal taste of preference is.

- Setting The Mood - A theme can also help set the mood and tone for an event. For example, a Diamond theme or Black and White theme will most likely lead to a very formal, very elegant affair. A sports or beach theme is most likely going to lead to a much more informal, casual fun wedding. It all depends on the couples preference.

So, the question remains- Do you need a theme? yes,it just depends on how you interpret what that means to you.If want to focus on the colors of your wedding or if you want to put more of a personal touch to it such as things you like or your heritage,it is all up to you and what means more.

When it comes down to it - yes, you do need a theme but you get to decide what that means. If you wish to plan your wedding around the wedding colors you have picked out and carry that through as your central theme, that is perfect. If you prefer to go the next step with a more personalized theme, then make sure you try to get all the elements that will really make your themed wedding one of a kind. In other words " Think Outside of the Box"

Here are some themed wedding ideas that I found.

African safari – Make the wilds of Africa part of your themed wedding. Have animal print tablecloths, guests in safari attire, African food and music, safari themed centerpieces and favors.

Alice in Wonderland – Bring elements of this Lewis Carroll fairytale into your themed wedding. Why not have a tea party? Use Alice in Wonderland character cut outs such as the White Rabbit, and the Cheshire Cat in your décor. Have the groom dress as the Mad Hatter.

Angel – Bring a celestial charm to your wedding. Cherubs in all shapes and sizes can be used as a motif for all your wedding related decor.Aquatic - Since beach weddings are so popular this is one of the most common themed wedding ideas. Even if you aren’t getting married at the beach or on a boat you can still use elements of the sea in your wedding.

Baseball – Some baseball enthusiasts love the sport so much that they tie the knot on a baseball diamond. If you don’t want to go that far, you can still use baseball as your wedding theme by incorporating this sport into your wedding. Give baseball shaped chocolates as favors, and have your wedding cake made in the shape of a bat and ball. You could even dress the part, and encourage guests to do the same.

Carnival - Still a kid inside? Fun theme wedding ideas are to rent carnival games, cotton candy machines, snow cone makers, and other fun items to give your wedding the feeling of a carnival. One thing is for sure: kids will love it.

Cars – Are you and your partner car buffs? Why not make cars part of your wedding theme? Arrive in your favorite car (this might be a ‘69 Mustang rather than a traditional limousine). Use model cars in your décor and have the wedding cake made in the shape of a car.

How you can throw an eco-chic wedding event:

1. Think about transportation. Does it make sense to have several members of the wedding party ride together in a limousine, or does it make more sense to have people car pool in their own cars? It all depends on your situation.

2. Use recycled paper, such as hemp or bamboo, to design/create your own wedding invitations. Keep your wedding invitation as simple as possible and try to use front and back of the card to fill up all the necessary information. Electronic mailings are the most earth friendly way when it comes to contacting your guests. This is also a great way to cut costs and save money on your wedding!

3. Send your guests home with a plant or tree seedling as a party favor.
Planting a tree that will grow and symbolize your positive contribution to
your community for your and your children's lifetimes is a lovely way to start
your lives together.

4. Give the gift of an experience, instead of a thing. Try a gift certificate for a restaurant (that serves organic food, maybe?) or a pass to national parks (if they like hiking) or a museum pass (if they’re into art) or cooking classes.

5. There are many things you can do to “green-up” your wedding cake. You may bake your own cake by asking for help from your friends or relatives. If none of your friends or relatives are available to help, you can consider cupcakes and use biodegradable cupcake liners. Choose the edible decorations so that they won’t end up in the garbage. This will also save you tons of money instead of ordering a cake from a bakery and you won’t have as much wastage with cupcakes.

6. Organic flowers can be more expensive, but you can cut costs by designing your floral arrangements based on local, seasonal availability, or by filling out you centerpieces with greenery and herbs.

7. Creating the menu for the reception based on abundant, seasonal options, such as fruit in the summer or root vegetables in the winter, also is the way to save if you are using product from smaller, organic farms that are typically a little more expensive. Fall is a season of change, so it's difficult to pick a single color palette. Instead, you can choose from several groups of colors depending upon whether it's early fall, mid-fall, or late fall. There's a wide range of vibrant colors, muted tones, and even metallic shades that symbolize the season beautifully.

Early Fall
In the early fall, the sun is still vibrant and the colors of the harvest are rich and beautiful. If you're getting married in September or early October, the best colors to use are reds (from apple to burgundy), pumpkin, marigold, green, and cream.

Apple Red
It seems that no matter what the season, apple red is always right for the occasion. Fall weddings are no exception, as juicy red apples are a symbol of the fall harvest. You can use red as a main color or just as an accent, but it's a surefire way to liven up your color scheme.

Bright and Warm
Colors like marigold and green make perfect fall wedding colors because they embody the bright warmth of the season without overwhelming the senses. In this way, they're just like fall—it's bright, warm, and not overdone. It's simply, classically beautiful.

Mid-Fall
Getting married in mid-to-late October or early November? Your color scheme should shift a bit away from all of the vibrant colors that accompany the early fall. Late Fall
Late fall is very versatile. Subdued Neutrals: Almost Monochromatic

That means lots of browns: mocha, tan, caramel, cream, off-white, beige—whichever mix you prefer. Make sure you add gold to give it a hint of glitz and a whole lot of glam.

Adding a bit of red, green, or silver can also be a nod toward winter wedding colors.

Choosing Accent Colors
When choosing wedding colors for a fall ceremony, you'll of course need one or two main colors and then a couple of accent colors. The earlier it is in the season, the more color—everywhere—you can get away with. Of course, it is your wedding, so if you want to use watermelon pink and lime green in late November, don't let seasonal restraints hold you back. If you're looking for guidance when it comes to playing to the tones of fall, here are some tips on choosing your accent colors:

•Early Fall: Even if your main color or colors are pretty vibrant (pumpkin, for example), you can get away with brighter accent colors. Small amounts of apple red wouldn't look out of place, for example.
•Mid-Fall: In mid-fall, subdued, muted, and earthy tones are popular. Try accenting in colors that are also muted, cream or other pale neutrals, and hints of metallic tones. Using a single bright pop of color, such as yellow in a cast of orange and rust, will also bid farewell to the passing of summer and still flow nicely with the color scheme.
•Late Fall: Late fall calls for rich, warm colors and metallics. Reds and greens certainly reflect the season, but overdo this color combo, and your wedding may seem more holiday-oriented than you intended.

What's Hot Now: Consider a less-is-more approach to your color palette: Silver and white with crystal accents can add some serious glamour to your winter wedding. Who is Pure Dymonds Event you may ask?

Just wanted to introduce myself for those of you who don't know me. My name is Trish and I am a wedding/event planner located out of Virgina .I am the owner of a wonderful company called Pure Dymonds Events. At first it never started out that way, I was going in a different direction. I always like weddings and the pretty dresses the brides would wear. I always wanted one of those big elaborate weddings myself but that never happened. So, I went to school and received my degree in Criminal Justice. Now what does Criminal Justice have to do with event planning? Absolutely nothing..WOMP! But after I finished school, I decided to go back to school for Massage Therapy..Yeah, that's right I am a Massage Therapist. But somewhere in doing that something hit me like a big crator and I woke up and realized that I was really good at planning events.

I am apart of a motorcycle club and yes I do ride a bike. We always put on really big events and I am always the one to put it together. All of our events have been really out of the box and original. People started to notice what a good job I was doing and wanted me to do their parties. It got to be out of control because I was doing it for free. Even in my massage business I was doing Spa parties for the brides and they loved it. I would ask them to put it together but it got to the point where they wanted me to do all of the work. So Pure Dymonds Events started to evolve into something I really loved doing, which was putting on out of the box, fabulous events.

Now all I ever do is eat, think and watch wedding shows..I am so obsessed with trying to come up with new innovative ways of doing things, but I guess that is why I am good at what I do.
